If your hearing loss is severe

There is only so much sound a device that small can move. Invisible styles suit mild to moderate loss. Beyond that you will get noticeably better results from a receiver-in-canal or a power behind-the-ear aid, which is a trade of appearance for hearing, and hearing usually wins.

If your ear canal is narrow or bends sharply

Some canals simply will not take an invisible fit, and it is not something you can tell by looking in a mirror. We check the size and shape at your appointment and give you a straight answer before any impression is taken.

If you want Bluetooth and long battery life

The smallest styles trade those away. There is no room for the aerial and the power a Bluetooth radio needs. If streaming calls and TV matters to you, a slightly larger completely-in-canal or a receiver-in-canal will serve you better.

If dexterity is a problem

Small devices mean small controls and a small battery door. If arthritis or reduced feeling in the fingers is an issue, handling an invisible aid every day can become the reason it stays in the drawer.

None of this is a reason not to ask. Plenty of people are perfectly suited to an invisible fit and are delighted with it. We just will not take an impression of your ear for something we do not think will work for you.
